Single Point Mooring and Tandem Loading Systems

Dunlop Oil & Marine Ltd.

The standard range of Dunlop Oil & Marine single and double carcass hoses is widely utilized on Catenary Anchor Leg Mooring (CALM) buoy terminals - the principal means for tanker loading and discharge operations offshore since the 1960’s. Other types of Single Point Moorings (SPM’s) are, however, increasingly being used where oilfield development plans - especially for deepwater applications - identify preferred alternatives for oil loading operations.

In some cases, the standard Dunlop Oil & Marine hose range will already suit the design requirements of a particular SPM installation; in others, customised versions of standard range hoses or somewhat more complex hose construction solutions are needed.

North Sea Influence

A large number of proven, customised loading hose designs has resulted through Dunlop Oil & Marine’s involvement in North Sea oilfield development. The principles of such hose design also extend to other applications worldwide, such as reelable floating hoses for tandem loading recovery between offtakes. Principal SPM loading systems and the hoses used in them include the following:

  • Catenary Anchor Leg Mooring (CALM) Floating Hose System
  • Single Anchor Leg Mooring (SALM) System
  • Catenary Loading System
  • Floating Hose Tandem Loading
  • Conventional Buoy Mooring (CBM) System
